Dental Crowns

A Crown (also called a cap) is an option that is usually recommended by our dentists at Willow West Dental, when a tooth is damaged but not fully lost. This applies in cases such as a Root Canal, a large filling or a broken tooth. When a tooth is fragile and requires that extra support to keep it in place.

A crown is hollow, artificial tooth that is placed over a damaged tooth to act as a shield and to help cover any further damage or decay.  Crowns can also be used to cover a discoloured tooth. In the end, a tooth with a crown looks and functions the same as a normal and natural looking tooth.

Crowns are very strong and could last years and years if taken good care of. Crowns should be treated and cared for in the same manner you would for your natural teeth, brushing and flossing daily.
